Hello everybody! Hope everybody had a nice Easter break! Here is what we are up to in Ardenza this week!
In the Baby room it’s all about animal sounds. Suzanne and Geraldine will sit down with the babies and show them pictures of different animals and make the noise of that animal. The girls will try and get the babies to imitate the noises and each day they will do a different animal. The girls will sing 'Old MacDonald' and give the babies toy animals to play with and do a bit of role play acting like different animals to hopefully entertain them!
In the Toddler room Bernie and Shell are teaching the kids about fruit and vegetables. In circle time the girls will chat to the children about what fruit and vegetables are and how they make you grow big and strong like Mummy and Daddy. Shell will show the children different fruit and ask them their colours. Bernie and Shell will talk about their favourite fruit and veg and what they eat for their snacks and dinner. During dinner time and snack time Bernie will make a big deal out of what the kids are eating and give praise and encouragement. Shell will also provide activity sheets for the toddlers to colour.
Upstairs the ECCE classes are doing fire safety and culture.
For fire safety Lisa and Mary Ann will discuss what fire safety is and what things at home could cause fires and how dangerous fires are. The girls will give the kids warnings about what happens if you play with fire and they will discuss what to do if there is a fire. They will do fire drills and practise crawling down low to hide from the smoke. There will be lots of dress up as firemen and firewoman and lots of role play. If you have a fire safety routine in place at home please write it down so that the girls can discuss it in circle time.
And Trisha will be doing culture for the next two weeks to educate the children on the world they live in and emphasis how everybody is different and special. This week she will focus on different countries and different languages and teach the children some ways to say hello. The kids will also look at flags and describe their colours and patterns. Trisha will also give them culture activity sheets and she would like if parents could send in information on relatives that live in a different country so that they can discuss it.
Enjoy your week and keep an eye out on the Ardenza Facebook for updates and photos of what your smallies are up to!
