Hello Everybody here is what we are up to in Ardenza this week!
In the Baby room it’s time for the babies to learn about their body as Suzanne and Geraldine teach them about their facial features and body parts. On the cosy blanket the girls will sit down with the babies  and point to their eyes, nose, ears mouth and say what they are. The girls will point at babies face and again say the names of what they point at. A lot of babies imitate others so hopefully the babies will learn about their head through this. The girls will sing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' and will play body part songs throughout the day in the Baby room and look through soft picture books pointing out eyes nose, ears and mouth. There will also be some handprint and footprint painting and lots of sensory activities.
In the Toddler room Bernie and Shell are teaching the kids about shapes. In circle time the girl will chat to the children about the different shapes and look at pictures of them pointing out the shapes. Each day they will do a different shape and point out things in the toddler room that are that shape. They will do shape puzzles and Shell will provide shape colouring sheets for the toddlers to colour.
Upstairs the ECCE rooms are doing the alphabet and culture.
In Mary Ann and Lisa’s rooms the girls will look through alphabet books with the children in circle time. They will sing the alphabet song and point out letters. The girls will relate letters to names and things that interest the children like A for Apple,  A for Alex, and make the children aware of how their names are spelt. The girls will interpret letters into everyday activities like when eating 'oh you have a carrot'  'c is for carrot' and other activities. The children will do letter activity sheets to colour and book time will consist of letter and alphabet books.
And Trisha is doing another week of culture so in circle time this week she will discuss the different types of food eaten in different countries and different traditions people have. She will do rice and pasta arts and crafts and activities and chat to the children about how we all look different and are all special and get the children to describe each other. She will also give the children culture activity sheets.

A wide variety of learning this week in Ardenza!
