Hello Everybody! Hope all the Daddys got spoilt at the weekend! Here is what we are up to this week in Ardenza.

In the baby room Suzanne and Kathlyn are doing sensory play with the babies using pasta and paint. Suzanne will put soft pasta and hard pasta into 2 containers and let the babies explore them with their hands and encourage them to squeeze and feel it. After some exploring the girls will then put in different coloured paint , saying the colour out loud and encourage the babies to feel it. The girls will give the babies clear plastic cups to transfer pastas and to mix the different colours. For the smaller babies the girls will tip their feet into it and help them pick up pieces whilst also making sure none goes into the mouth. It will be messy but fun!
In the toddler room Bernie and Laura are doing block play with the children. The week will consist of a lot of blocks activities where the girls will sit with the children asking them the colours and shapes of the blocks and encouraging them to use their imagination and build whatever they want. The girls will ask them questions about what they are building in hopes of expanding their imagination and giving them confidence in what they are creating. The girls will also provide props to help build their ideas and give them lots of praise and encouragement.
Upstairs the preschool rooms are learning about bugs.
In circle time Shell, Mary Ann and Lisa will discuss with the children what insects are and what they do. They will look at pictures of them and ask the children to describe them. The girls will focus on different bugs each day and encourage the children to be cautious but interested in insects. The girls will highlight how insects can bite and sting so it’s best to watch and not touch some and they will talk about how important some insects are like bees. For arts and crafts there will be beautiful butterflies, caterpillars and bees made and hopefully if the weather is nice they will get to go watch insects do their jobs!
Have a great week!
