Hello Everybody, here is what your little ones are up to this week in Ardenza!
In the Baby room Suzanne and Kathlyn are doing sensory play with sand. Suzanne will fill a tray with sand and put in down on the mat for the babies to explore it. She will encourage them to use their hands and fingers to feel the sand and rub their feet in it so that they can feel the soft grains. After a while the girls will introduce sand toys and pouring equipment and show them different way to us the sand and encourage the babies to copy. There will also be toy sieves and nets for the babies to use and put the sand into. The girls will take extra care in watching the babies to insure that they don’t put it into their mouths. The girls will also sing beach songs and read stories about trips to the beach.
In the Toddler room Bernie and Laura are teaching the children about camping. In circle time the girls will chat to the children about what camping is and ask the children if they ever went camping. The girls will read stories on it and look at pictures and ask the children questions on it. Laura will do role play with the children using the pop up tent and pretend they are going camping. The girls will ask the children to ‘pack bags’ and use the tea set and fake food to pretend their cooking. Lots of fun and using the imagination in the toddler room this week!
Upstairs the pre-schoolers are learning all about the beach!
In circle time Shell, Mary Ann and Lisa will discuss with the children beach safety, exploring the beach, what creatures live at the beach and swimming in the sea. The girls will focus on how we must not run away from mam and dad, no going into the water on our own and not to pick at sea creatures. The girls will chat about what lives in the rocks and water, what they do and what they look like. They will do activity sheets on the beach and make lots of colourful beach pictures and crafts. The children will get to do role play pretending to be at the beach by using the sand pit and have picnics outside to pretend they’re at the beach.
Have a great week!
