Hello everybody here is what your little ones are up to this week in Ardenza.
In the baby room Suzanne and Kathlyn are teaching the babies the nursery rhyme ‘Row row row your boat’. In circle time the girls will sing the song and show the babies the actions by holding babies hands and rocking them back and forth. For the older babies the girls will encourage them to pair up with another baby and do it with them. The song will be playing every day and the girls will do the actions whenever it comes on. The babies will also get to play with boat toys and scribble and paint pictures of boats.
In the toddler room Bernie and Laura are going to show the children how to use bikes. In circle time the girls will ask the children if they have bikes at home and if mammy or daddy cycles one and talk to them about bike safety using helmets. The toddlers will get to colour pictures of bikes and outside the girls will show them how to use them. The crèche has 2 seater trike bikes which are brilliant for helping toddlers learn the basics of cycling a bike contributing to their gross motor development and also builds friendships and encourages turn taking so the toddlers will be encouraged to share the bike while also challenging themselves to peddle the bike. And for those that are too young for peddling it’s even great to encourage them to walk with the bike and push it along themselves. Every little helps!
Upstairs the preschool rooms are having story book week so each child will be encouraged to bring in their favourite story from home.
In circle time Shell, Mary Ann and Lisa will ask the children to pick out one of their favourite stories from the preschool library and the girls will read it for them. They will do role play situations from different stories, using fancy dress and imagination to recreate the stories. The children will also get to make arts and crafts of items or people from their favourite stories and be encouraged to talk about their stories and what happens in them. A lot of imagination and creativity being used by the pre-schoolers this week so lots of thinking ahead!
