Latest from Ardenza
Hello everybody! Can’t believe the summer is over already it flew! Here is what we are up to this week in Ardenza!
In the baby room Suzanne and Kathlyn are teaching the babies about parts of the body. In circle time the girls will sit with the babies and point out where their hands, legs, toes, nose, ears and eyes are and ask the older babies to point them out too. The girls will stand babies in front of the mirror and point them out there too so that they can see themselves where they are. The girls will sing the song head, shoulders, knees and toes and the hokey pokey. The girls will look through picture books of babies and point out parts of the body on that and for arts and crafts they will do tracing of the hands and feet and print painting.
In the toddler room it’s time for some new toddlers as some of the babies from the baby room are now upgraded to toddlers! So this week Bernie and Laura are helping new children settle in to the toddler room. The girls will show them where their new shelf is, where they eat, where they do stories and songs and where they play. The girls will encourage them to sit during activities and songs and stories and show them all the new toys they can play with. The girls will see what interests the child has and use those interests to interact with other children and form friendships. Suzanne and Kathlyn will be no doubt checking up on their former babies anyway!
Upstairs in the preschool rooms it’s time to learn all about the children as the girls do all about me with the pre-schoolers.
In circle time Shell, Mary Ann and Lisa will ask the children questions about themselves like what their favourite activity is, their favourite toys, books, cartoons etc and encourage them to open up. The girls will tell them about their favourite hobbies and describe how they look. The girls will also point out what everybody’s hair and eye colour are and try and encourage the children to describe themselves as best they can. The girls will look at pictures of children from all over the world and talk about how everybody is different in their own way and we are all special. The girls will encourage the children to talk about what they love about themselves and hopefully build confidence. The children will get to colour pictures of themselves, pick out interests that they like from magazines and make a collage about themselves. Each child will have their own shelf and be encouraged to put things away themselves on it. family photos are important this week too so if you haven’t sent one in please do.
Have a great week!
