Latest from Ardenza
Hello everyone here is what your little ones are up to this week in Ardenza!
In the baby room Suzanne and Laura are starting to do senses with the baby as sensory play is a very important activity in the baby room so this week they are starting with taste. In circle time the girls will look through pictures of foods and make hmm noises and name out the food. For snack times and dinner times the girls will give baby encouragement and praise for eating and use words like yummy and all gone. If parents would like their babies to try new foods send them in and the girls will encourage them to eat it. The girls will give the babies the teaset to encourage imagination and role play of eating and cooking and take note of what they liked. The babies will also be allowed to pick at the food themselves and get to explore the food with their hands. Some babies prefer to use their hands over spoons so they may even feed themselves.
In the toddler room Bernie and Mary Ann are teaching the toddlers about their colours.
In circle time the girls will look through colour books with the children and point out colours in the room that match the colour in the book. They will ask the children about their favourite colours and use blocks to point out colours. Puzzles, jigsaws and coloured bricks will be used to match and name out colours and for arts and crafts the toddlers will get to make rainbows and colour activity sheets. Each day the girls will concentrate on a certain colour to help with colour recognition and sing the rainbow song.
Upstairs the ECCE rooms and preschool classes are learning about road safety.
In circle time Shell and Lisa will talk about the importance of listening looking and stopping in road safety and speak about the dangers of the road. The girls will focus on a different topic each day and do activities on that topic. For example, listening, the girls will go to the window and ask the children to listen to sounds of the road and ask what they can hear. They will play games like Simon says to encourage the children to stop when told and they will listen to different sounds of traffic. The girls will do different activities each day on the stopping listening and looking. The girls will read stories from the road safety pack the crèche has and outside a zebra crossing will be made where the children get to practice using one. There will also be role play done with some children acting as people in cars and buses and bikes. Hopefully by the end of the week the children will be more aware of road safety.
Have a great week!
