Hello everybody here is what we are up to this week in Ardenza!

In the baby room the girls are continuing on with senses and doing touch. Each day Suzanne will provide different sensory activities for the babies to explore with their hands such as rainbow pasta, flour play, water play and crepe paper activities. The babies will be encouraged to use their hands and feet to explore the different textures and it will be lots of fun messy play. Suzanne will also do mini massages on baby’s hands and legs to make them more aware of the sense touch. They will also be textured books for the babies to feel and look through.

In the toddler room Bernie and Mary Ann are doing shapes with the children. In circle time the girls will show the toddlers shape books and point out the different shapes encouraging them to repeat the word. They will do shape puzzles and play hide the shapes where the children have to try and find shapes around the room. The toddlers will get to colour a different shape every day and they will be displayed on the wall.

Upstairs the ECCE rooms and preschool room are learning about under the ocean.

In circle time Shell and Lisa will chat to the children about creatures that live under the sea and look at pictures of crabs, starfish, fish, octopus, sharks, dolphins, seahorse and turtles.  The girls will tell the children a little information on each creature and each day they will learn something new about them. The girls will encourage them to describe them as best they can and ask them if they have ever seen them on the beach or in an aquarium. The children will sing songs like under the sea, the fishes in the sea and 5 little fishes and read under the sea stories. For arts and crafts the children will make their own under the sea collage using a wide range of materials.
