Hello everybody! Hope you are all well! Here is what your little smallies are up to this week in Ardenza.
In the baby room Suzanne and Rachel are doing the letter B so circle time will consist of b sounds and pronunciations. The girls will fill a basket full of toys beginning with b and exaggerate the letter when naming them. The girls will sing baa baa black sheep and look at stories with sheep in it and say baa sounds. The babies will get to finger paint the letter b and scribble pictures of things beginning with b. The alphabet song will be sang and letter books will be looked at.
In the toddler room Mary Ann and Bernie are teaching the children all about winter. In circle time Bernie will talk about the weather getting colder, jack frost, and how we must wrap up warm for winter. The girls will point out the children’s coats and hats and scarves and ask them where they go. Bernie will read stories on winter and ask the children questions on the pictures like what is the colour of snow, where are the leaves gone and what clothes people are wearing. Mary Ann will do winter arts and crafts like handprint bare trees and crepe paper clothes.
Upstairs the ECCE and preschool room are learning about culture.
In circle time Laura, Lydia and Lisa will discuss what culture is and how everybody has their own culture that is special to them. the girls will try and explain how we are all different and we must all respect each other’s differences. The girls will get children to describe each other and point out differences in each other’s appearance but concentrate on similarities in interests then to show that even though we might all look different we might have the same interests and loves. The girls will focus on a different culture each day and talk about clothes and foods that culture has and ask the children if they have any relatives in a different country that celebrate a culture different to theirs. The children will get to make arts and crafts out of rice and pasta and colour pictures from around the world. If you would like the crèche to celebrate a culture your family celebrate please let the girls know and give them information on it as it would be lovely for others to learn about it.
Have a good week!
