Latest from Ardenza
Hello everybody! Can’t believe we are near the end of November already! Christmas is just around the corner and in Ardenza we couldn’t be happier! Here is what we are up to this week.
In the baby room Suzanne and Laura are teaching the babies the rhyme Humpty Dumpty. In circle time the girls will look through nursery rhyme books with the babies and sing Humpty Dumpty, pointing out things in the pictures like his shoes, the wall and the colour of humpty. The girls will do actions and do funny tumbles onto the soft blankets with the babies while singing the song. The babies will get to scribble and paint pictures of humpty and every day the rhyme will be sang.
In the toddler room Bernie and Mary Ann are doing block play with the children. Each day the girls will try and do a different activity with the blocks and get the children to open up their imaginations to creating something new. The girls will do colours one day and try and get the children to try and find different coloured blocks around the room, other days then the girls will read stories in circle time and after ask the children to make things from those stories. Other days then the children can do what they wish with the blocks and other toys and encourage them to mix them with other toys to create things. The girls will give praise and encourage all the time and always ask the children questions on what they are doing.
Upstairs the ECCE rooms and preschool rooms are doing textures.
in circle time the girls will talk about how there are different words to describe textures and how everything has a different texture even our skin. The girls will ask the children to try and describe what they feel with their hands as best they can, encouraging them and helping them by giving them new words. The girls will use the different textured box of clothes and ask the children to feel them with their hands and face and ask them questions on it. Other days they will use textured boards and do messy exploring play using softy and hard pasta, rice and flour to feel different textures. The girls will encourage them to explore the textures and use their new words as best they can. Hopefully by the end of the week the children will have a few new words to add to their growing vocabulary!
Have a great week!
