Hello everybody! Ardenza is just buzzing with excitement as Christmas is upon on! All the children and staff are so excited about Santa and the crèche is full of Christmas songs, Christmas FM (106.7 in case anyone wants a listen) glitter, and Christmas jumpers! We have a busy two weeks ahead of us before Santa’s arrival so here is what each room is up to for it!

In the baby room Suzanne and Laura will be showing the babies Santa pictures, pointing him out and saying Ho Ho Ho and encourage the babies to say it. The girls will sing Christmas songs like jingle bells and Rudolph the red nose reindeer to the babies and look through Christmas story books. For sensory play the babies will get to explore a basket of Christmas decorations like gold beads, baubles, tinsel and stars and get to feel the different textures. For arts and crafts the girls will make footprint reindeer, Christmas stockings, a big baby handprint Christmas tree and a nice little surprise for mommy and daddy.

In the toddler room Bernie and Mary Ann will chat to the children about Christmas. They will talk about Santa in the north pole and his reindeer, what things we leave out for Santa and how we share presents. Bernie has a lovely Christmas story book that she will read and ask the children questions on and for songs the girls will teach the toddlers Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, jingle bells, Santa Claus is coming to town and when Santa got stuck up the chimney. For arts and crafts there will Christmas cards made for mommy and daddy and lots of colouring done.

Upstairs the ECCE and preschool rooms will also be discussing Christmas in circle time. they will talk about Santa in the north pole, his elves working hard, how every child should get a present whether they are naughty or nice and how it’s nice to give presents. The girls will also discuss how Christmas is a time for love and family and showing others we care. The girls will ask the children about their family traditions and what way they celebrate Christmas. There will be Christmas games like Rudolph says played and song time will consist of the usual Christmas songs with when Santa got stuck up the chimney being the favourite. For arts and crafts there will be lots of snowmen, Santa’s and reindeer made using a wide range of material as the crèche needs some decorations and what better way to decorate it than with the children artwork!

Keep an eye out on Facebook over the next week to see updates on what your little ones are up to!

Have a great week!
