Latest from Ardenza
Hello everybody hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year’s. We are back into the swing of things in Ardenza and here is what we are up to this week!
In the baby room Suzanne and Laura are doing flour play. Flour has a lovely soft texture that the babies love exploring so each day they will play with flour using kitchen toys to mix and pour into. The flour will be in a tray so babies will get to rub their hands and feet in it and use the toys to scoop and blend. It’s great for imagination and exploring through the senses. The girls will also add in water and paint to make it doughy like so babies will get to squeeze and explore another texture and will be visually stimulating too.
In the toddler room Bernie and Mary Ann are doing dinosaurs with the children. in circle time the girls will show the toddlers pictures of dinosaurs and read stories on them. The girls will do role play activities where the children must pretend to be dinosaurs and they will get to play with dinosaur figurines using loads of different props to expand imaginary play. The girls will also provide colouring sheets and puzzles for the children to do.
Upstairs the ECCE classes and preschool rooms are doing emotions.
In circle time the Lisa, Lydia and Rachel will discuss with the children the different emotions there are and when we might be feeling them. The girls will talk about the importance of expressing your feelings and emotions and how its ok to feel these emotions. Each day the girls will talk about a different emotion and ask the children ways that may make them feel that way. The girls will do role play situations using the emotion puppets to help the children express their feelings and make emotion faces in arts and crafts which they can use. They will ask the children about what makes them happy and do activities with them that make them happy. The girls will also read stories which have people reacting to things and do questions and answers on it after to help the children understand.
Have a great week!
