Learning about numbers

Hello everybody, here is what your little ones are up to this week in Ardenza!

In the baby room it’s time for the babies to learn all about Miss Polly! Laura and Lisa will be singing 'Miss Polly had a dolly' to the babies and do the hand gestures for it getting the babies to move their arms. The girls will use teddies and dollys as props encouraging the babies to hold them. The girls will sing it and have it playing on the cd player daily as well as doing usual one to one interactions with the babies.

In the toddler room Bernie and Shell will teach the toddlers all about spring. In circle time the girls will talk to the kids about what happens in Spring in Ardenzafrom the leaves growing on the trees to the flowers popping up and read stories on Spring. The girls will also discuss the weather in Spring and how raincoats are needed! If the weather is nice the toddlers might go out the back with Bernie and look for flowers and Shell will provide some flower activity sheets for the toddlers to colour.

Upstairs in the preschool rooms Suzanne and Ciara will be doing numbers and counting in Ardenza with the kids. Ciara will be with us until the end of May and will be working in the preschool and montessori rooms. She is  just completing her Montessori degree and we are delighted to welcome her to our team. In circle time the girls will discuss numbers in a relatable way to the kids like what numbers their ages are, how many eyes we have and do some counting like counting people in the room, chairs, dollies, bags etc. The preschool rooms are equipped with some fun number peg boards and puzzles to help the kids with number recognition and if the weather is good they will play the very popular outdoor counting game ‘What time is it Mr Wolf’. There will also be number activity sheets to colour and counting books to practice counting with.

And in the Montessori room Trisha is continuing on with Culture this week discussing the different foods from different cultures and how to say hello in different languages. There will also be some food arts and crafts like rice and pasta plates and some light food tasting.

Hope you all have a good week and any news or problems with your smallies don’t be afraid to share them with us.
