Messy play at Ardenza this week

Hello Everybody! Hope you’re having a good January! Here is what we are up to this week in Ardenza.
In the baby room Suzanne and Geraldine are doing flour play all this week with the babies. Lots of sensory fun as the girls do different activities involving flour! Each day they will do something different with the flour, one day dry flour play using the cooking set so babies can role play, wet flour play using a small bit of water so the babies can feel the slushy texture, mixing pasta and spaghetti in another day and mixing different colours paint so that babies will be visually stimulated. A lot of messy fun this week in the baby room.
In the toddler room the children will also be doing sensory play as they play with the Velcro wall mat. The children will have to learn how to share and wait their turn as Bernie and Shell give them Velcro cars, numbers and people to stick on the mat. The girls will ask them questions about why their putting them where they are and encourage them to tell a story and use their imagination. The girls will also encourage them to take them down and tidy them away. There will also be the usual colouring activities, stories and songs.
Upstairs the ECCE room and preschool rooms are doing emotions.
In circle time Mary Ann, Lisa and Sarah will discuss what our emotions are and list them out. The girls will list out things that make them feel certain emotions and ask the children about things that make them feel these emotions. The girls will encourage the children to open up and let them know its ok to feel these emotions. The children will get to choose activities in the rooms that make them happy and the girls will provide fun activities like dancing and games to give our happy emotion a boost! They will do role play using dress up and Sarah will look through pictures of children with the ECCE class and ask them question on what emotion they are showing and why they might be feeling like that. She will also ask them to draw pictures of things that make them feel happy, sad , angry, confused and scared. Its important to let children know its ok to feel different emotions and not to dismiss their feelings so hopefully the girls goals is to make them feel comfortable and happy!
Hope you have a great week!
