Summer is here!

Summer is here!

Hello Everyone! It’s hard to believe summer is here! Hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend. Here is what we are learning this week.
In the baby room Suzanne and Geraldine are letting the babies explore through their senses with soft and hard materials. In circle time the girls will sit with the babies and give them baskets filled with soft materials like different textured clothes Velcro, towel, silk and feathers and hard materials like tinfoil, lollypop sticks and pieces of clean lino. The girls will rub the materials onto babies face and hands and encourage them to hold and feel. The girls will also encourage the babies to stick them onto paper and will stick the paper up on the wall at their level so that they can feel and explore it when they want. Texture books and stories will also be read.
In the toddler room it’s time to learn about summer. Summer in Ireland can be a bit confusing to explain to toddlers but Bernie and Laura will give it their best! In circle time they will talk about the different weather in summer and how Mr. Sun comes out a lot more. They will talk about wearing sun cream, wearing lighter clothes and going to the beach. Songs like Mr Sun and We’re off to the beach will be song and stories will be read about summer. Laura will provide summer colouring pages with beach balls, beach pictures and summer clothes and they will do role play pretending to be at the beach.
Upstairs the ECCE room and preschool rooms are also doing summer so in circle time Shell, Mary Ann and Lisa will discuss how the weather gets warmer, flowers come out, new insects like lady birds, butterflies and bees come out to enjoy the sun and trips to the beach. They will also explain how the weather likes to change its mind a lot! They will do question and answer sessions on beach safety, clothes we wear in the summer and holidays. There will be sand play done to encourage imagination for the beach and lots of beautiful Arts and crafts to display on the wall. Hopefully we will actually get a summer!
Also you could start sending in hats and sun creams in the bags and we will label, date and store them in the crèche. Thank you !
